Neighbor Helping Neighbor

The Chief of Police texted me about using Good Shepherd as an emergency back-up shelter since the St. Johnsbury School had water in it from the most recent thunderstorm and flood. Mrs. Cartularo and I spoke about it as she was out-of-state and Mrs. Gingue came down to let the Red Cross volunteers into the school.

They toured the gym with Mrs. Gingue, and I just happened to be there when the Red Cross trailer arrived with emergency supplies. Then, another trailer with water bottles arrived as well. So, we got the dollies out and started to unload case after case of water.

It was a great occasion to meet people from the Vermont Lions Club as well as some of the St. Johnsbury Administration who also helped. I can tell you, it was very hot and humid and we were all dripping with sweat by the time we made the multiple trips back and forth from the trailer to the gym.

I am very proud that our Catholic School was available and we were all more than willing to be of help. After all, we are all neighbors. Our prayers from Good Shepherd go out to all of those adversely affected by the weather with loss to property and possessions. God bless you!
